Prescription Strength

Prescription Strength

When you look at others, what do you see? Is there love in your viewpoint or are you always seeing their shortcomings? Do you constantly nitpick what others are wearing or if they are overweight? Take a good hard look at yourself and find out if your vision needs correction. If your view is off, maybe you are wearing the wrong lenses, maybe you need a change in your prescription. The Lord is the only one who can correct your lenses. The vision He gives you is filled with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. If you are seeing through these eyes, then the faults of others will be harder to see because you are looking through eyes of love.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23

Satan on the other hand tends to tinge our vision with negativity. If we let him rule our hearts and minds, then we will tend to see only the faults of others and point those faults out to those around us, thus spreading the seeds of hatred, discord, jealousy, selfish ambition, and envy. Satan likes to color our vision with these things because that is the easiest way to pull us away from Christ. This is his favorite pastime- to pull us away from Christ who loves us and wants only good in our lives.

“The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.” Galatians 5:19-21
