Mushroom Hunting

Mushroom Hunting

Living on a farm means spring is filled with fun activities, my favorite being mushroom hunting. There is nothing more fun than going into the woods and trying to find those tiny fungi! They are a truly delicious gift from God. Like many of God’s gifts, we often overlook them.

The problem starts when we let life, and Satan, get in our way. There are so many times when Satan is sneaking into our lives and we don’t even realize it. He uses little things like worry, stress, and being busy to take our eyes off of God. It is kind of like in the woods. So many times you are looking way up in front of you and you just happen to look RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU and there is a mushroom. We are too busy looking around to see what is right there.

The Lord is often trying to help guide us in the right direction. These hints, clues, and signs are often right in front of us but we are gawking. We are too busy trying to see what is up ahead to see what he wants from us right now. Worrying about the future is not what He expects from us. He has it already taken care of. He may be trying to tell us of a task He has for us today, though, so we should pay attention and keep our focus on Him. How do we do this? Start the day with Him- reading, praying, and listening. Talk to Him throughout the day. Listen to Christian music to keep your focus on Him throughout the day. These are just a few ways to make Him the center of your life every day.

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6:33-34
