I Need….
If you are a mom of a college student, you will relate to this! As kids grow up, they usually become more independent. They often don’t want to listen to what parents have to say and they start to explore their own interests. Friends become more important than spending time with family. Once they get out of high school and head to college, we parents kind of become an afterthought. They get busy with college life and we wonder if they even remember that we exist. We continually worry about them, but we don’t want to be “helicopter parents” so we try not to bother them. We want to let them call us when they have time in their busy schedules. Sometimes that doesn’t seem very often, but you can be sure they will call when they NEED something! A parent almost dreads to get the call from them because we know it will be something dire - either their car is broke down or their bank account is empty.
Do you ever wonder if the Lord feels the same way about us? When our lives get busy, which is always, we never call Him! We may go days, weeks, even months without even speaking to Him. If we do contact Him it is only if we NEED something! Is this how you are living? Is your life so busy that you don’t have time for God? We all have times when we are guilty of this. If you realize that this is how your life is, now is a good time to change that. The good thing about God is He never sleeps so you don’t have to worry about calling Him too early or too late. When you first wake up in the morning say “hello” to Him. Remember He has written a very long love letter to you, it is called the Bible. He has a wonderful message in it for you. Take time to read it. You’ll never want to be apart from Him again!
“Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name. And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.” Hebrews 13:15-16
