His Roadmap

Have you ever been on vacation and gotten lost along the way? Sometimes life can be this way. There are times when we are traveling along life’s road and we take a wrong turn. Consider it in terms of this parable: Think of your life as if you were on a long vacation far from home and suddenly hit a pothole and the axle of your car breaks, leaving you stranded along the road. You pull out your smart phone and find a nearby mechanic’s shop and call for a tow. The tow truck arrives and you finally make it to the mechanic. The friendly mechanic with kind eyes strikes up a conversation and after talking with him you realize that you have taken a wrong turn along the way. Luckily, he gives you better directions and gets you back on your way. You think to yourself how lucky it was that your car broke down or you would have been even farther away from your destination. 

This is just how the Lord works in your life. He takes bad things that have happened to us and turns them into good. He often takes our own mistakes and helps those things to get us back onto the right road, the road that leads to Him. He can even take our mistakes and past sins and show us how to use those to lead others to Him. How amazing is that? That even our own mistakes can be used for good? 

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28

“If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?” Romans 8:31-32
